Next, pretend like you don’t have a flash at all. So, turn off your flash unit for now, because we have to do some metering (don’t worry, it’s easy). You do have to do this part in manual mode (as always), because you have to start with your shutter speed set at 1/125 of a second (so, do that first). Now, with your flash still turned off, focus on your subject, and then look at the built-in meter you see inside your viewfinder.
