It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Non-Blocking Caches
A non-blocking cache can continue to service additional requests if a cache miss occurs. It forwards the request that caused a miss upstream to the next higher level of the memory hierarchy but can continue to perform cache lookups for the processor core's execution engine. Prior to the advent of the Pentium® Pro processor, the caches in IA32 processors blocked on a cache miss. Starting with the Pentium® Pro, all IA32 processors implement non-blocking caches.
