THE OD ROLE IN MAKING MERGERS AND ACQUISITIONS WORK
Organization development (OD) professionals have worked with executives to put combinations on the path toward strategic and financial success. “Generic” OD practices—such as collecting valid data, feeding it back, and engaging clients in using the findings to develop insights and plan interventions—apply here. In addition, OD interventions have been developed at the individual, group, and organizational levels specifically for M&A situations. While an exhaustive listing of OD interventions for making mergers and acquisitions work cannot be presented in this chapter, we can provide a sample of the ways in which OD activities have enhanced M&A outcomes.
