When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Consequences of lacking social awareness
Many misunderstandings arise when social awareness is lacking. Why? First off, because without social awareness you cannot understand why the others are behaving in a certain way: for instance, gossiping, ignoring you, or trying to manipulate you. You then have fewer options for managing their behavior. We can see below the major consequences of lacking social awareness:
- You take your colleague's or boss's behavior as a personal attack and feel hurt, when no hurt was intended, and it was nothing to do with you.
- You cannot read your audience's feelings about you, your ideas or your organization. Therefore, you pitch your presentation at the wrong level, raising hostility and negation in your audience, ...
