The Dock

You can’t miss the Dock across the bottom of the screen. The Dock takes the place of Mac OS 9’s application switcher, Apple menu, and Control Strip. Applications are to the left of the dividing line; all other files are stored on the right. The Trash basket cannot be moved, nor can you make an alias of it. You can move the Dock to either side: hold down the Control key, click on the dividing line, and choose a position from the menu. For a brief overview of the Dock, see Chapter 1; for all the details, see Chapter 8.
