Changing Style

Style refers to whether the type is plain, bold, italic, condensed, etc. To change the style of the type, you need to follow Rule #2: select first, then do it to it. Select the type you want to change (highlight it), then choose the style you want from the menu. Depending on the application, you can choose more than one of these; for instance, you can have a face that is bold italic condensed.

Not all typefaces have all of the options, as shown below. Many applications limit you to just the designed faces; that is, in some programs you can force a typeface to fake an italic, but in most you can’t do that anymore.
