So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
RAM: Random Access Memory
Until you actually go through the process of naming a document and saving it, the document hangs around in RAM, which stands for Random Access Memory. RAM is sort of like the top of the desk in your office, where you spread your stuff out as you work. Your hard disk acts more like a filing cabinet where you store all your folders of information.
Your oak desk is very much like your computer’s RAM—a temporary working space.
The metal filing cabinets in your office are very much like the computer’s hard disk—a permanent storage space.
