I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Technical Font Stuff
The technical font stuff is changing once again. Mac OS X uses a new font technology, actually a couple of new font technologies, but hasn’t abandoned the ones we’ve been using for years. Because I’ve written entire books and chapters in other books (including a chapter in all of the previous editions of The Little Mac Book) about font technology, I’m not going to explain all the details here. Most people don’t care anyway. I’ll just tell you the important stuff.
These are the sorts of fonts you can install in Mac OS X:
PostScript Type 1: You must install both the printer fonts and their matching screen fonts, as usual. They don’t always have extensions.
Mac TrueType: The font name usually has a TT in it, but not always. ...
