Taking Advantage of Keyboard Commands

Use the keyboard commands to do some of the tasks you’ve already been doing with the mouse and menus. Read page 59, “Keyboard Shortcuts.” Using the keyboard shortcuts is a sign of becoming a Power User.

The trick to making a keyboard shortcut work is that you must first select the item you want to affect. For instance, if you want to open a folder, first click once on the folder to select it, then press Command O to open it (as explained on page 59).

Do each of these things using a keyboard shortcut:

• Open a window.

• Close a window.

• Select every item in a window.

  (To de select the items, click in any white space in the folder.)
