The Finder windows all have a “Search” box in the upper right, as you can see below. You can type a word or phrase into this Search box, hit Return, and the Mac will search for a file of that name, as explained in more detail on the following pages.
If you see a Toolbar but it does not display icons and text, as shown here, you won’t see the Search box either. So do this: Control-click on the Toolbar and from the menu that pops up, choose “Icon & Text Mode.”
