Renaming Icons

Don’t rename any of the folders in your Home folder!

To rename any icon— a folder, a document, a program, a disk—just click once on the icon’s name (not on the icon’s graphic); wait a second or two until a box appears around the name so you know you’re changing it, then simply type the new name. Or instead of clicking directly on the name, click anywhere on the icon to select it, then press Return to get that box around it (this is actually faster than clicking on the name).

you’ll see a box around the name . . .

then just type to replace the selected name.
