Putting Something in the Trash

To put something in the Trash, press-and-drag an icon over to the Trash can (actually, it looks like a wastebasket). When the basket turns black, let go and the file will drop inside. Don’t let go of the file before the basket turns black! If you find a bunch of garbage hanging around outside the Trash or sitting in the Dock, it’s because you didn’t wait for it to turn black—you just set the trash down next to the basket.

The paper in the basket is an obvious visual clue that there is something in the garbage.
