Personal File Sharing
Okay, so you have your two Macs either directly connected to each other with a crossover Ethernet cable, or you have several Macs all connected into a router, hub, or switcher with straight Ethernet cables, as explained on pages 628 and 630. Now you need to turn on Personal File Sharing.
Turn on file sharing on every Mac that you want to share files between.
Step 1: Set up Sharing preferences
To turn on Personal File Sharing:
1a. | Open the System Preferences: click on the icon in the Dock, or from the Apple menu, choose “System Preferences....”

1b. | Single-click on the Sharing icon. You’ll get the pane shown below.
