Do You Need to Make a New Public Folder?

I do hope you heeded the warnings early in the book not to throw away or rename any of the folders in your Home area, particularly the one named

Public. If you did, it’s really okay—you can create a new one, plus the Drop Box inside of it, and the new folder will work just like the original. It will even have the fancy little icon on it.

To make a new Public folder (if you previously threw yours away):

1.	Open your Home window (click on the Home icon in the window Toolbar, or press Command Option H).
2.	To make the new folder, press Command Shift N. A new, untitled folder will appear in your Home window.
3.	Rename the folder Public. Click anywhere to set the name (or hit Return or Enter).
