Installing Applications

Sometimes you need to make a decision about where to install a file. Usually the Mac will automatically install applications into the main Applications folder (provided you can supply an Administrator name and password) where all users have access to them.

If you want to be the only one who can use an application, create a new folder in your Home folder, as circled below, right, and call it something like “My Applications” or “Applications for Lew.” Install the application inside this folder.

Any user can install an application into their own Home folder. They still need to know their own password.

On a corporate network, applications can also be installed on the main network server so all users can access them. Talk ...
