Site Collection Navigation Settings
Earlier in this section I mentioned the fact that, by default, navigational items are security trimmed. However, you can choose to change the default setting and disable security trimming in SharePoint Server 2010 sites. This can be achieved by accessing site collection administration and clicking the Site Collection Navigation option. Figure 5.29 shows the Navigation Settings page for a site collection. It is generally recommended that security trimming be enabled on authenticated sites. If you disable security trimming then users see all, or any, available navigational links, and when they click those links are challenged for user credentials.
