It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Page Layouts in SharePoint Designer 2010
Page layouts in SharePoint Designer 2010 are accessed via the Page Layouts object seen in the left-hand menu in Figure 15.16. The Name and Title columns help to easily differentiate those values seen in the Web interface when creating new pages from page layouts. Page Layouts is also where you create new page layouts, by selecting the New Page Layout command in the ribbon’s New group.
