List and Library Portability

If you want to create a new list or library based on an existing list or library, or make a list or library in one site available in another site within your site collection, there are several ways to do this using SharePoint Designer. But, there are also some best practices and rules that you should consider before attempting list save or move operations. For example, clicking the All Files tab in the left-hand navigation pane and then attempting to simply Copy and Paste a list or library renders the error dialog shown in Figure 10.29.
