So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Page Layout UIVersioned Content
For the sake of legacy and upgrade purposes, page layouts in SharePoint Server 2010 that were previously available in SharePoint Server 2007, such as the ArticleLeft.aspx page layout, include a new server-side SharePointControls:UIVersionedContent control.
The UIVersionContent controls identify two different versions:
• Version 3 corresponds to SharePoint Server 2007.
• Version 4 corresponds to SharePoint Server 2010.
Each control instance includes a ContentTemplate control that includes markup that is used based on the version detected. For instance, in the ArticleLeft.aspx page layout, if version 3 content is detected, then SharePoint uses the style sheets enclosed in the <SharePointWebControls:UIVersionedContent ...
