So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Test the New Page Layout
After you’ve created your new page layout, you should test it to ensure that it is accessible and functional via the Web interface. Use the following steps to test your page layout:
1. Save the Projectx.aspx page layout but leave the page open in design view and minimize SharePoint Designer. Open the site in the browser. At this stage, you, as the creator, just want to view and verify the page rather than check it in because you might wish to make some additional changes to the page layout before making it available to others.
Note
In this case, the user was logged in as the site administrator and therefore did not need to check the page in and approve it before viewing and accessing it via the Web interface.
