Using Master Page Tokens
Master page tokens are all about how SharePoint manages the relationship between a content page and the master page. For instance, if you create a new blank ASPX page in SharePoint Designer, until you attach a master page to that content page, none of the site’s chrome is seen, such as navigation, banner, search bar, and look and feel. Chapter 13 touched on master page tokens, specifically in discussing attaching new master pages to existing content pages.
