When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Custom List Actions
If you’ve worked with Features in SharePoint 2007 then you might be familiar with having used Features to add custom actions, or buttons, to list toolbars and site menus, such as the Site Actions menu, in existing SharePoint sites. Features are still a valid means of creating additional site artifacts, such as toolbar buttons, but in SharePoint 2010, SharePoint Designer 2010 makes it easy to create and deploy custom actions to lists and list menus. The main difference between using a Feature and SharePoint Designer 2010 to deploy custom actions is that custom actions created in SharePoint Designer are scoped to lists and document libraries within a site on a per instance basis.
