In this chapter, you saw how to create custom actions in SharePoint Designer and Visual Studio 2010, and realized key differences and benefits around using one technology over the other. Obviously, creating custom action Features in Visual Studio always provides the greatest flexibility in terms of scope and functionality. However, the ability to create custom actions in SharePoint Designer enables information workers and designers to quickly add custom actions to a list’s ribbon and LIM to help enhance the user experience in SharePoint sites. You also learned how to work with URL tokens and effectively apply those tokens to custom actions.
