So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Creating a New Master Page from a Starter Master Template
If you are more familiar with master pages and SharePoint 2010, there are several starter master pages available that you can use as the basis for creating new SharePoint 2010 master pages. Starter master pages include SharePoint controls and content placeholders, which are required by SharePoint 2010 sites. However, starter master pages come with minimal HTML markup, so you need to invest additional time and effort in creating them. For example, Figure 17.37 shows an example of a case in which a starter master page has been applied to the site. As you can see, the content does not have formatting.
