Purpose/Objectives: Press releases are usually descriptions of an organiza-
tion or event that put the best possible spin on the
facts. Putting it in writing in a press release format
encourages us to focus on the characteristics of an issue
or subject. Further, when individuals work together to
write something, their contributions quickly become
part of the whole.
In this exercise, small groups will prepare press releases
about various teams. Working together, they will choose
familiar teams and then describe them in flattering
terms. After they read the press releases aloud, you will
