Preparation

• Review Role Play Guidelines in the Trainer Skills section of this binder.

• Make one copy of the Moderator Role, Observer Role, Constructive Critic Role,

and Destructive Critic Role handouts for each group. You will need copies of the

Team Member Role handout for everyone else.

• Read over the handouts for the team members. Note that the two critics' roles

allow them to alternate between offering constructive or destructive comments

and being generally agreeable.

• Choose the moderator carefully. He or she should be someone who can keep a

discussion going.

• Select a planning task that is meaningful to the participants—something from
