Authentication Types
Authentication for the E-mail Router is required for the connections to the e-mail system and the users’ mailbox for each incoming and outgoing e-mail profile.
Exchange Server supports only Windows Authentication for the incoming profiles. Exchange online supports Clear Text Authentication.
For POP3-compliant servers, incoming profiles can use NTLM or Clear Text authentication.
Note
Clear Text authentication transmits unencrypted user names and passwords. If you use Clear Text authentication, we recommend that you do this only with Secure Sockets Layer (SSL).
