Sharing Data with Outlook Using Actions

You can share data between Word and Outlook using actions. Several actions are available in Word, including the Date, Person Name, and Telephone Number actions. An action such as the Date action or Person Name action requires that you right-click on a text item (such as a Date or person’s name) to complete the action; the action would actually be scheduling an event in Outlook (related to the date) or adding a person’s name to your Outlook people folder. Unfortunately, there isn’t a visual cue (such as underlining or highlighting) to let you know that a particular type of information can be manipulated by an action.
