When you have completed your email message, you can send it. Click Send, and Outlook places the message in your Outbox folder. If you have a persistent connection to your outgoing mail server, Outlook sends the message immediately and places a copy of the message in your Sent Items folder (or the folder that you specified using the Save Sent Item to command on the Options tab).
If you are working offline, Outlook places the message in your Outbox folder. The message remains in the Outbox until you connect to your network (or the Internet, if you are using Internet email) and uses the Send and Receive command.
