Using Templates

As already mentioned in the previous section, one option for creating a new document is to use a template provided on the Start screen or the New page in the Backstage. When you create a new document in Word, you actually always use a template—even blank documents. Blank documents are based on the Normal template, which uses all the default settings such as the default font, margins, tabs, paragraph settings, and the other document layout attributes. If you haven’t changed any of the default Word settings (something we talk about later in this chapter), the Normal template presents you with all the default settings that Word provides at installation.
