Searching the Contacts Folder

If you have many contacts in the Contacts folder, you might need a tool to help you locate a particular contact quickly. If you are in the People, Business Card, or Card views, you can jump alphabetically around your Contacts list using the Index on the left side of the Preview pane. This doesn’t help you find a specific contact or a group of contacts that work at the same company or reside in the same state, however.

To find contacts that meet certain search criteria, you use the Search Contacts box at the top of the Reading/Preview Pane. Enter a search string in the Search Contacts box; for example, you might type in a portion of a last name to filter the Contacts list. Or you might type in a particular ZIP code ...
