Understanding Styles
When you create Word documents that contain a great deal of formatting attributes for the various headings, special paragraphs, and the like, it makes sense to take advantage of styles. A style is a grouping of formatting attributes identified by a style name. Styles can contain text-formatting attributes such as bold and 14 point, and can also contain paragraph-formatting attributes such as indents and other alignment settings (such as Center or Justify).
