Copying and moving formulas and functions is straightforward as long as you remember the fact that Excel uses relative referencing by default. This makes it easy to copy a formula or function that acts on rows or columns that are similar to the row or column where you first inserted the formula or function. For example, if you have several rows of values that contain the same number of cells, you can use the SUM function to total the first row and then drag the SUM function down using the fill handle to copy it so that it totals each subsequent row in the worksheet.
