Working with Paragraph Formatting
Paragraph formatting encompasses a number of formatting attributes, including alignment (think of centering and aligning text left), line spacing (single spaced versus double spaced), tabs, and indents. However, other settings related to how paragraphs are broken between lines and pages (such as widow/orphan control) play a part in this discussion of paragraph formatting.
As discussed earlier in this chapter, Word sees a paragraph as any text block (or blank line or lines) that is preceded and followed by a paragraph mark (that is, you pressed Enter before the paragraph and after the paragraph).
