4.8 GNOME Shell Themes
GNOME shell themes are files that modify the appearance of the desktop. Changeable elements include the color of the panel, menu and window borders, the design of buttons and other controls, and more. Many distributions make use of themes. On Ubuntu, Pop!_OS, Linux Mint, and others, GNOME doesn’t look like it does on Fedora or Debian because of this. (The latter two distributions basically ship GNOME in the default configuration provided by the GNOME developers.)
Before you can use your own themes, you need to download the relevant theme from the internet and unpack it in a new subdirectory in .themes. If the .themes directory doesn’t exist yet, you need to create it via mkdir .themes in a terminal window. The following ...
