The text-based email program Mutt can be used to read local emails (see Figure 11.2). The package, usually of the same name, must be installed prior to its first use. In a console window, you first need to run su -l to log in as root, and then start the program using the mutt command.
The program displays the subject lines of all emails on the start page. If the active user hasn’t received a single email yet, Mutt complains that the /var/mail/user file does not exist yet. You can ignore this warning; it will stop appearing as soon as the first email arrives.
