6 Using the Terminal
Up to this point, I have presented Linux to you primarily as a desktop system. You have become acquainted with various programs that may look a little different from Windows or macOS, but ultimately serve the same purpose and are similar to use. However, using Linux does not end at this point. There is another side to Linux that may seem daunting at first glance. Experienced Linux users execute commands in terminal windows or text consoles and receive the results also in text format. The mouse only plays a minor role; graphical user interfaces are a thing of the past.
