In the previous section, I explained which requirements must be met for a user to be able to log on to Samba; in short, a Linux account and a Samba password must be available. Now the only question is which resources a logged-in user can see and use. The [<resourcename>] sections in smb.conf are crucial for this.
The definition of a directory that can be accessed by a specific user looks as follows:
# in /etc/samba/smb.conf...[directory1] valid users = peter path = /data/dir1 writeable = yes
