This chapter describes how you can install and update software or packages on Linux and which techniques are used. Central topics of this chapter are the RPM and DEB package formats; the apt, dnf, dpkg, pacman, rpm, yay, and zypper package management commands; and the new AppImage, AppStream, Snap, and Flatpak package systems.
