This chapter describes how you can connect your Linux computer to a local network or wireless network. For desktop installations, this can usually be done effortlessly using NetworkManager. The network configuration is somewhat more difficult for server installations, where often no DHCP server is used and therefore a manual configuration must be performed. This chapter explains the basics of network configuration (including IPv6) and how to perform a static network configuration without graphical configuration tools.
