12.3 Editing Text
To insert a text character more than once, you must enter the number in standard mode, the command (A) (append), the relevant character, and finally press (Esc). So to enter the = character 50 times, you need to enter (5), (0), (A), (=), (Esc). Once you have entered the command, you will be back in standard mode.
Vim also helps you to correct typical typos: (~) changes the case of the current letter, and (X), (P) swaps the following two letters.
Table 12.3 provides an overview of the most important commands for deleting text. If you enter a number before the delete command, the delete command will be repeated a corresponding number of times. As for all other Vim commands, (.) repeats the last command, and n (.) repeats it ...
