Virtual Machine Manager (program and package name virt-manager) is the best way to get familiar with KVM. The program has a lot to offer even for experts and is absolutely sufficient for many virtualization tasks.
To use the program, you must connect to the libvirt daemon. In most distributions, the connection to the existing QEMU/KVM item is established automatically. On Fedora, openSUSE, RHEL, and the like, you need to enter the root password when starting Virtual Machine Manager.
On Ubuntu, the connection works only if the user is part of the libvirtd group. If that is not the case, you must run sudo adduser loginname libvirtd and log out and log in again.
