The WSL network integration depends on the WSL version you use. WSL1 shares the Windows network with Linux. This means that the WSL distribution has the same IP address and host name as Windows.
WSL2, on the other hand, receives its own IP address in a private address space. The behavior is strange when several distributions are running at the same time as these distributions then share the IP address. The IP address is on a private network and is randomized each time WSL is started. The connection to the host system is made via NAT—basically the same as for virtual machines.
