It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Q.ITILは世界標準（スタンダード）ですか？
A. いいえ、違います。ISO（International Organization for Standardi
zation：国際標準化機構）の定めた ISO 規格のような、世界標準（スタ
ンダード）というわけではありません。
ITIL はあくまで ITSMのベスト
プラクティス（成功事例）をまとめた書籍群です。ただ、世界中の様々
な組織で参考にされているので、「事実上の標準」、すなわちデファク
ト・スタンダードであると言えます。
Q.ITILとISO/IEC20000 の関係は？
A. 互いに参照しながら成長しています。前述の通り、ITIL は ITSM に関
する書籍群です。この
ITIL の 2 世代目である ITIL V2 を元に、ITSM につ
いての世界標準として「
ISO/IEC20000」が作られました。その後、ISO/
IEC20000
も参考にITILの3世代目であるITIL V3が作成されるというよ
うに、互いに参考にしながら改版され続けています。
Q.ITILはIT の運用の話ですよね？
