Pre-session tech setup
Remote studies require some level of setup on the participant's side. At a minimum, the participant needs access to the product under testing, and must be able to remotely communicate with the moderator and share the screen on the device that they are using. The webcam may also be shared.
Consumers and the general population are a target user group for many websites and apps. Study participants for these profiles are often not very tech savvy. This may present a challenge when software setup is required. Even if the setup is easy, participants may be intimidated by the prospect and feel uncomfortable.
