The results of the study can only be relevant to the study sponsor if they find answers to the questions they were asking. We like to document the goals in the study design and make it part of what the stakeholders review and approve. When designing the survey, we regularly ask ourselves whether the responses will help answer the study sponsor's questions. For example, asking outright what the participant thinks about a banner ad will not answer the question of whether they would have noticed it if they hadn't been directed towards it.
