It is sometimes difficult to find participants that fit the target user profile.
Finding existing users of an app that was recently launched may be difficult; imagine a service that was launched just days ago, and only has a subscriber base of 50 people. Unless it is possible to target precisely that group of users, it will be very challenging to find existing users within a broader community. In some cases, it makes sense to identify a group of study participants that agree to use the product for a period of time before participating in the study, thereby artificially creating existing users.
