An informal debriefing at the end of each day or after the sessions are all complete provides the study sponsors with a high-level overview while they are waiting for an in-depth report. If the debriefing occurs before all of the sessions are complete, it is possible that the sponsor wants to tweak the tasks and questions to focus more (or less) on certain areas or pain points. While this can yield additional valuable data, it can impact formal reporting. For example, if a task is added or removed midway, the reporting for that task will be based on fewer participants. This method may be more suitable when working in-house, or when the report is less important as a deliverable.
