A recommendation should always list the easiest change that will bring about an improvement. But we do like to, additionally, list alternatives that might not be as easy to implement, but would bring about even greater improvement. The ideal solution may be clearly expensive and potentially not even on the product roadmap yet, such as offering a touchscreen interface instead of physical buttons. Often, less expensive solutions are thinkable that are less than perfect, but which can provide a quick fix. The UX researcher should list all possible remediation alternatives, highlighting which are quick, short-term fixes and which are the ideal target solutions.
