When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Best practices when representing data
Here are some general rules that help make graphs more legible:
- Labeling:
- Axes should always be labeled or a legend should be provided if there is not enough space to display the value labels along the axes.
- A chart title should always be provided especially if there is not enough context to easily infer what the chart represents.
- Type fonts and sizes should be easily legible.
- Sort order:
- If the values being counted can be ordered in an obvious manner—for example, by a daily, monthly, or yearly frequency—then the order on the chart axis should reflect this.
- If the values do not have any obvious logical order—for example, if we were looking at the most-used online payment methods—then the chart will ...
